NEOSA member Virteom is a local tech company with a unique website technology that helps clients grow their business online. I recently spent some time with company founder Dan Carbone to catch up on the business and learn more about what they do.

NEOSA: So, Dan, tell me about the genesis of Virteom – how did you get started?

I was fortunate to spend time with local college IT students this week, first at the University of Akron and then at Kent State University. And I’m not going to lie, I was impressed.

On Monday, I joined other members of the computer science advisory board to look over student projects and offer an evaluation. And Friday was spent with members of the Computer Information Systems board hearing presentation from four teams of Kent State Students.

Let me start at the end: nearly 1,600 people participated in Tech Week 2013. And just to offer some context, that’s 77% more than last year and more than triple 2011.

But the volume of growth isn’t the only story. We really leveraged Tech Week to bring together different constituents in the IT community here: entrepreneurs, educators, IT executives, students and others.
