About The Event
This annual, must-attend gathering features a panel of well-known local small business owners who seized the opportunity to make their entrepreneurial dreams come to fruition and helped to put their neighborhood "on the map".Our panelists this year are the stars of LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s hit reality TV series, “Cleveland Hustles”. Our panelists will talk about their businesses one year after being part of the series, the challenges of fast growth, and the change they’ve experienced in both themselves as entrepreneurs, and the local neighborhood they chose to invest in to drive their business.
Jackie Wachter, FOUNT
FOUNT is a design and production house based in Cleveland, Ohio, with a focus on luxury leather bags and accessories. The company began in late 2013, as husband and wife creative team, Philip and Jackie Wachter, began to pursue their passion to create quality products that are ethnically made here in the United States. What started simply as a side product, making handbags and accessories out of their home, quickly turned into a bustling creative studio in downtown Cleveland, now employing 16 team members and counting. The meaning of the word FOUNT is, "an abundant source of desirable quality."
Geoff Hardman, Cleveland Bagel
A bagel company in Cleveland. Yes, it's that simple. Cleveland Bagel's mission is to make something really great to eat that 99% of people can afford. For them, that means making a really great, Cleveland-style bagel. They’re inventing it, so they get to define it. For them, a Cleveland-style bagel is an old world style bagel that was carefully researched to recreate what a bagel used to be. Not too dough-y, not too sweet, Cleveland Bagel Co. bagels are smaller, full of flavor, chewy, with a crisp exterior that they’ve spent countless hours perfecting.
Mike Gulley, Old City Soda
Old City Soda began as restaurateur Mike Gulley’s answer to a need for high-end mixers as demand blossomed for inventive, higher-quality cocktails. With years of restaurant experience and time spent as a beverage consultant at some of Cleveland’s most progressive bars and restaurants, he knew what bartenders wanted and was intent on delivering a better product. He delivered on that mission, and so much more, creating unique and flavorful sodas that are perfect for anyone looking for a refreshing, all-natural alternative to mass produced products. What started in Mike’s apartment as a fun side project has turned into a dedication to the craft of making sodas the way they started…using the freshest natural ingredients, made by hand, and bottled in small batches sold locally. It’s a revival of purity, tradition, and passion for crafting sodas the way they were meant to be.
