In Memory of one of COSE’s Founding Fathers, Jack Bares

One of COSE’s founders and a long time serial entrepreneur in our community passed away last week.  Jack Bares was the founder of Milbar Corporation and one of the organization’s strongest supporters.  What started with Jack and a dozen or so other entrepreneurs creating a resource to help each other has grown into the country’s largest regional small business support organization with more than 15,000 members.

More Money, Please!

Last week I spent some time in Washington, D.C. with about fifteen of our small business owners to participate in a number of White House Small Business briefings and talk with our local federal elected officials and their staffs on the issues we are facing. The focus of the administration last week was on the American Jobs Act and a number of proposals related to increasing access to jobs for the unemployed and access to capital for small business.

Getting Your Name Out There

I saw a Jimmy Fallon clip in which he asked, “Raise your hand if you're either a man or a woman. Yeah, me too!”   Reader, raise your hand if your company has customers. Yeah, me too!

And if you have customers, you still probably want to find more of them.  Thinking about all the sales, marketing, branding, and social media techniques and strategies that are out there will make my head spin but I can definitely speak to some COSE-specific opportunities for you that are fairly low-hanging fruit.
