First Energy Sets Rates Through 2011

Friday, December 19, 2008 / 12/19/2008 12:00:00 AM

On Friday, December 19, 2008 the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) accepted First Energy’s Electric Security Plan (ESP), with a few exceptions and modifications. First Energy’s ESP, as approved, establishes the electric rates for First Energy customers for the next three years. These rates are as follows: in 2009, First Energy’s rate per kilowatt hour will remain locked in at 6.75 cents (which is the same as the rates for 2008) and, in 2010, the rates will increase to 6.95 cents per kilowatt hour. The PUCO has retained an option to increase rates to 7.1 cents per kilowatt hour in 2011.
