Since 2008, we've awarded more than $65,000 to area high school students who've participated in our annual tech contest. Participating teams and students receive a variety of prizes, including t-shirts, Chipotle gift cards, Best Buy gift cards and of course college scholarship funds!
Our 2014 contest kicked off in February with a unique twist: NASA Challenges! Our participating students selected Challenges from the 2013 NASA Space Apps Challenge as the basis for their work. Student teams selected one (1) Challenge on which to work and submit to the contest; we had some really cool entries that included websites, mobile apps and project plans.
Our three winning teams were celebrated at the 8th Annual NEOSA Best of Tech Awards dinner on April 17, 2014. Additionally, one of the teams was selected to present their project to 200+ IT executives, tech entrepreneurs and college professors at the 2nd annual Grow (Tech) Talent conference on Friday, April 11, 2014.
We're working on plans for 2015; we're hoping to align with NASA again (because that was cool!), winners will tell the stories at the tech conference, and of course, we've got money, prizes, t-shirts, and more to give away!
