About: Growing-up in the Florida Panhandle in the 1960s and 70s, I lived and worked on a small tobacco farm, amid tobacco fields and barns, farmhouses, shacks, cisterns, wagons and roadside stands. All of them, now considered relics, have either disappeared or are rapidly returning to the rich soil that sustained our families for so many years. Today, as an artist and writer, my goal is to capture the visual impressions and the emotional and spiritual essence of life in the South.

The sweetness of the old South is, in some small way, in each of us…..whether you’re a born and bred Southerner, a transplant, descended from Southerners, or simply an occasional grateful recipient of the January sun on a southern beach or golf course.

The steady warmth of the people and culture is the true sweetness of the South. HowSweetTheSouth.com gives life to our belief that “Southern is a state of mind”™ - through art, short stories and anecdotes.

Connect: Between the two of us, we have a lifetime of creativity and over 50 years of business and marketing experience. We’ve created a lot of business and artistic value, made many mistakes, and learned from each one.

Advice:   To artists: Focus on your creative goals and delegate the rest to someone who is trustworthy and reliable. Resist the urge to maintain the illusion of control by trying to do it all.

To business leaders who work with artists: Respect the artist and his/her creative process and intuition. Creativity is often accompanied by eccentricity. Suspend judgment and celebrate right brain/ left brain collaboration.  “Support Innovation. Hug an Eccentric.”™
