Preparing for and Responding to COVID-19

In an effort to protect the safety and wellness of our members, our staff and our community, Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) is currently in the process of rescheduling, postponing and, in some cases, canceling upcoming events in response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

A message to the Greater Cleveland Partnership community regarding upcoming events and our response to COVID-19:

In an effort to protect the safety and wellness of our members, our staff and our community, Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) is currently in the process of rescheduling, postponing and, in some cases, canceling upcoming events in response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) current risk assessment and information from both local and global public health officials calls for limiting meetings of large groups, increasing social distancing measures and careful consideration of non-essential travel, particularly for those at a higher risk of infection.

As you know, these recommendations have had a broad impact across our community—including the cancellation of the 44th annual Cleveland International Film Festival, the postponement of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 2020 induction ceremony and the cancellation of Tuesday’s Cleveland St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the first time in more than a century.

Many of our peer organizations are also canceling major events in alignment with the governor’s directive of banning gatherings of more than 100 people.

We have made an organization-wide decision to cancel and/or reschedule GCP events taking place over the next 45 days, including our Tech Week programs and our COSE Day at the Capitol. Beyond that point, we will continue evaluating the situation and make decisions about other upcoming events on a case-by-case basis.  Details and updates will be communicated to you in the coming days, weeks and months.

We take very seriously our commitment to the health and well-being of our members, staff and their families. Doing what we can to protect our community is our priority, and your understanding of these precautions is appreciated.

For those of you seeking more information, a state call center to answer questions regarding COVID-19 is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634) and up-to-date information is also available 24/7 at coronavirus.ohio.gov.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has created a toolkit of resources for chambers and businesses on how they can prepare and address the impacts of the ongoing outbreak.

The U.S. Small Business Administration also offers guidance for businesses and employers to plan and respond to Coronavirus, including information about its Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program, government contracting, and other products and resources.

Finally, we know this issue is likely to impact many businesses in our membership. We stand ready to work as your advocate with federal, state and local officials regarding regulations, economic stimulus, and/or the government response to the virus. Reach out to us if you think we can be of help.

In health and partnership,

Joe Roman

President and CEO, Greater Cleveland Partnership

  • What You Need to Know About Expedited Freight

When shipping urgent freight, time is of the essence. When there’s a hiccup in your supply chain, what do you do? Expedited shipping gives your organization a competitive advantage by providing a quick resolution to problems that arise. Set your supply chain up for success by understanding the top three benefits of expedited shipping.

    Invest Now, Save Later
While expedited shipping is usually more expensive than standard shipping, investing in your supply chain now will save you time, headaches and money in the long run. Ascent coordinates each shipment based on your budget and must-arrive-by-date. While the expedited shipping market is heavily driven by truck availability, most quotes can be sent to you within an hour of your request. Our team is ready to assist seven days a week, ensuring that a shipment will be coordinated to meet your needs.

    Customer Satisfaction
By keeping your customers satisfied, you are protecting your organization’s reputation. Waiting on a shipment isn’t worth damaging your relationships with your customers. Having a relationship with a reliable shipping partner ensures that mishaps do not slow down your business. Ascent has the power to track all shipment milestones, calculate the most optimal route of transport and coordinate with the carrier from the point of origin to the destination.

    Avoid Bigger Supply Chain Disruptions
While you may only be waiting for one single part to be delivered, every minute until it arrives will disrupt and delay your supply chain. If you’re in a pinch and need a shipment ASAP, expedited shipping will save the day. After shipment delivery, Ascent can provide an in-depth analysis of historical trends to improve your team’s productivity. We provide our clients with the ability to run actionable and detailed reports that contain real-time information specific to all your current and future operations.
